Immunological disease research at Broad focuses on a few key questions:
- Can we understand the complexity of the human immune system in health and disease?
- What is the genetic, cellular, and molecular basis for autoimmunity, cancer immunity, pathogen immunity, and other inflammatory diseases?
- How should we treat disease and restore health?
The Broad's long-term goal in studying immunological disease is to reconstruct the intra- and inter-cellular immune circuits that explain health and disease, using a combination of human genetics, single-cell genomics and proteomics, animal models of disease, and large-scale genetic perturbation of cells and disease models.
